This entry was quite hard to make, it was be a toss-up between The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.
The Big Bang Theory makes me guffaw all the time, with its sharp (understatement) wit and clever dialogue. Its material is very well-researched (one episode shows Sheldon Cooper computing his life expectancy using Baye's Theorem, and I don't know if I should be proud or feel sad that I actually understood his equations), and the storyline is quite fresh (for the first 2 seasons). However, the latest episodes have been too sexualized and have a forced plot. I absolutely adore the four geeks nevertheless.
How I Met Your Mother doesn't only make me laugh, its story has amazingly intricate details and continuity, deep character development, and entertaining dialogue. Okay, I seriously ran out of adjectives, let alone superlatives. Yes, that's how much I love this series--I have all episodes on my laptop and I religiously follow the upcoming installments, and I play these whenever I need a li'l pick-me-up (or when I'm studying...it has to be playing in the background). I'm not sure whether I really want to know the titular mother just yet, lest I want the series to end.
But tell you what, I'm really captivated by Ted Mosby's charm and sweet demeanor (even if he comes across as a bit douche-y at times). This is perfectly matched with his friends: Robin's gorgeous sophisticated, scotch-swilling, cigar-smoking, red-meat-eating, gun-toting New Yorker-slash-Canadian character; Lily's innocent-on-the-outside wild-in-the-inside cuteness with a tad bit of wisdom; Marshall's gentle giant awkwardness that switches from dork to sage depending on the situation; and Barney's....awesomeness, for lack of a better word. Heck, I love these guys as if they were my own friends. Haha.
HIMYM trumps all series in my heart, hands down. For some reason. Bah, whatever. HIMYM FTW.
